When 50 is beginning to stare you in the face– it’s time to get serious. I have battled a weight problem most of my life and probably will continue to do so. However, I wanted to be the healthiest I could be– so I joined TVGF. It was okay, but the best came when I signed up for an assessment with Vicki. She showed me I could do it in a fun, motivating and interesting way. She has always been firm on what she wants me to do, but has always been positive even when I couldn’t do things well. Doing what a lot of mothers and wives do, I always took care of my families wants and needs first. I work full-time, come home, cook dinner, clean, run the kids around. My excuse was I am now too tired to do anything for myself. My health and well being was suffering. Finally realizing that in order to take care of my family, I would have to take care of myself first. 2003 has brought a lot of changes into my life. I started the New Year by having Gastric Bypass surgery, knowing that the surgery is only a tool to help me lose weight. The only way to be truly successful was to incorporate exercise into my life. Two and a half months post-op I started exercising. I really didn’t know what I was doing. I made an appointment to see a Personal Trainer for an assessment. It was the best thing I could ever have done. I knew I could not do this on my own. I signed up for 20 sessions with Carol Capone. Carol has made such a difference in my life. She always puts my well-being first. She has taught me the importance of doing exercise correctly. Always changing my routine keeps my metabolism moving and me from getting bored. I look forward to my weekly sessions with Carol. She is always positive and makes me feel good about myself. I know I would not have been this successful in my journey without Carol. She is not only my trainer, I also consider her my friend. Carol, we are in this together for the long haul.

My name is Paul, retired four years at age 66,couch potato, and overweight. I had trouble breathing when doing minimal exercise, my clothes didn’t fit, and I had no energy.
That about wraps up my physical traits as of last September when I decided to make changes. I joined the Twining Valley Fitness Center with the intent to lose thirty to forty pounds, but not really knowing what I should be doing.
